“You’re not actually going to do this are you?” Joseph asked, as we both walked into the throne room. It was an open planned room, with a white marble floor, two golden thrones and a turquoise wall with intricate golden markings. So many memories were enveloped in each corner around the room, from me being sworn in as I joined Caelindria, to the day I was officially made Hereissa’s guardian and to the very last time I saw Fabian alive. “After the massacre we’ve just had to endure-”

“Yes I am, ok,” I stopped in the centre of the room and turned back to look at him. “And I know you might disagree with me but let me tell you something, once she’s back here, once she knows who she is, she will be the one to lead the kingdom to safety and free us from the threat of the Phoreans for so long.”

“Free us of the Phoreans?” He shook his head. “I’m sorry but what planet are you living on? Phoreans have been after our blood for centuries Hunter, what difference will bringing back Hereissa make in the long term? I mean before we go making any irrational decisions that we might regret, let's just look at the facts, why don’t we,” He took an exasperated sigh. “Hereissa has been raised in care, in a completely different world, with her only knowledge of the existence of Caelindria most likely being through the myths of our kingdom and race. She probably has a different name altogether, let alone not being aware that she’s been watched by a dead mortal who’s dead on Earth but not really dead,” He shook his head. “Do I need to really carry on and let you know fucking absurd this sounds?”

“Absurd? So what do you expect me to do? Just let her live out the rest of our days, unaware of who she really is, let alone her origins,” I raised my eyebrows. “God, I really thought you had more sense than that Joseph, but maybe I’m wrong.”

“Sense?” He walked to the bay window to look out to the kingdom lands. “Bit ironic you bring that up in this conversation, don’t you think Hunter?” He paused. “Seventeen years you’ve lived in this kingdom, you’ve fought in countless battles, mentored several apprentices, acted as a respite healer, and advised the kingdom and yet here you are leading us to our own death-”

And this is one of the numerous reasons I despise Hannah.

I know she might’ve been our queen once.

And Fabian’s love.

However thanks to her rather than having a pure blooded monarch we don’t.

Because rather than marrying someone within the kingdom he fell in love with the first mortal he ever set his eyes on.

“Maybe I am or maybe I’m not, however with all due respect Joseph you are not an advisor of the kingdom and I am hence why I will be following what Fabian decreed, despite what you and Elise may think,” I snapped my fingers and opened the Sentere (basically the window to earth). “Now if you excuse me I have our monarch to visit.”
