I hold on too tight, afraid you’ll let go,

Heart in my throat, a storm I don’t show.

I read every word that you send, over- analyzing again and again.

A prisoner of thoughts, I never stood a chance.

I wait for a message, a sign that you care,

But the silence feels heavy, like you’re not really there.

I sit and wait, checking my screen,

Wondering if I have said more than I need.

My heart spirals inward, lost in the stress of my own mind,

Worrying too much about words I convey.

Did I say too much? Was I too much again?

The fear pulls me under, an unending bend, again and again.

I crave your affection, your warmth, your embrace,

Yet dread you’ll get weary and tired of my desperate chase.

I tiptoe through moments, afraid of each crack,

Wishing I knew how to keep you and I intact.

I mold myself smaller, a shape you might need,

But lose parts of me in the process, and once again I bleed.

Caught in the middle of wanting and fear,
