Okay! We've had a bit more Japanese spoken in these last two chapters, and so I think I'd be of service to you, my gentle reader, if I translated what has been said! Back in the previous chapter, at the end, Hank is sitting with Anna on the loveseat in her apartment, cuddling and saying sweet things. 'Kirei desu,' he says [綺麗 です。] which means 'You're pretty' or perhaps 'You are nice.' He then decides to improve upon that and, with a little help from Anna, he says 'Utsukushī desu' [美しい です。], which means 'You're beautiful.' No wonder why they started smooching heavy after that. 🧡🧡 Now, in this chapter, we have Hank and Fuji exchanging pleasantries in Japanese while canoodling in the kitchen. Fuji bends low at the waist, bowing while praising Hank by saying 'wa boku no ōji' [は 僕 の 王子。], which means 'you are my prince.' Fuji furthers her praise by saying 'Meshitsukaida yo' [召使 よ。], which means '(I am your) servant.' Now, I sometimes think I should have Fuji say 'Kare no meshitsukai yo' [彼の召使よ。] or even 'Kare no meshitsukaidesu yo' [彼 の 召使ですよ。] but that seems to be too many words, and kind of all formal and stuffy, when what they're doing is just goofing off and having fun. So what do you think is best, if you speak Japanese? Oh. And Hank doesn't really know exactly what Fuji said, but since he knows she's praising him, he humbly disagrees by saying 'Tondemonai desu!' [とんでもないです。] which means 'That's ridiculous!' In a very polite manner of course. Hopefully, Hank was bowing lower than Fuji when he said that to her. 👑
